Every Pet Counts

Every Pet Counts

The Somerville Foundation for Animal's newest initiative is the Pet CARe Van. With our new mobile veterinary clinic, we're working to keep pets with the people who love them. Through your donations and our sponsors, we help homeless veterans, the elderly, and individuals and families in need by providing free veterinary care for their best friends. Since 2011, The Somerville Foundation for Animals has provided community education, support and care. The Somerville Dog Festival has been home to 4,500+ visitors a year, offering free come-when-called classes, dog sports try-outs, games, and even a children's play starring local dog talent (this year's production was CATS!). In 2017 we founded the Somerville Pet Food Bank, supplying over 150,000 pounds of pet food to local food banks. And this year we've launched our CARe Van. This Community Animal Resources veterinary van will travel to Veteran's Administration locations, the Pine Street Inn, New England's leading provider of housing, shelter, street outreach and job training to homeless men and women, and other family services' locations to provide veterinary care to individuals and families in need of care for their pets. The CARe Van is made possible by donations from the public and by the generosity and loving mission of the Jane Hodge Animal Care Trust, which helped us purchase the van so we could realize our mission.
